Research is an important building block for achieving gradual further developments and radical innovations. For this reason, we always look beyond the boundaries and participate in research projects.
We are pleased to report that the North Rhine-Westphalia state expert committee has approved our new research project „5G SIMONE“ with funding of up to 2.7 million euros as part of the second round of the competition 5G.NRW .
Together with the well-known project partners from research and industry with Fraunhofer IOSB-INA (Lemgo) as consortium leader, East Westphalia-Lippe Technical University (Lemgo), German Rail System Technology GmbH (Minden) and T-Systems International GmbH (Frankfurt am Main), we will build and test a 5G-based ecosystem for the innovative mobility solution “MonoCab”.

Together, we want to bring an intelligent mobility solution of tomorrow to the railway and combine it with ultra-modern software, hardware and communication technology.
MonoCab? What is that by the way?
The innovation with the name „MonoCab“ is a very small, self-propelled vehicle that moves along a rail and can be booked on demand. Due to the slim design and a gyroscope system (stereo gyroscope technology), which ensures a stable balance, the vehicles are able to use single-rail lines in both directions at the same time. The “MonoCabs” will run continuously and can be ordered like taxes for individual trips to the village or the city via app 24 hours a day, all year round. The purpose is to enable people in rural areas to become more mobility and independence while using existing infrastructure.

We look forward to working with our partners, discovering new insights from the project results and helping to create the future of mobility.
